Tips for a Great Brow Wax

Eyebrows.  We all have them; we all prefer two to just one :-).  Sometimes we need a miracle; maybe one is thicker than the other, maybe we over tweezed, maybe one has a high arch and the other is rounded.  Let's face it; we all want perfect symmetrical brows.  The reality is that brow shaping is a tricky business and Stacy and I are estheticians, not magicians!  So, before you arrive for your next brow appointment, follow these simple guidelines to help make your service as seamless as possible.

1. Communicate Your Vision

Are you looking for a completely different shape?  Do you just want a clean up?  Do you hate having the tops of your brows waxed?  Don't be shy, let us know!  We will ask before every brow wax exactly what it is you are looking for.  Communicating your vision helps us to give you perfect brows.

2. Be Aware of Timing

Do you have a big interview coming up?  Is your wedding this weekend?  Make sure you schedule your appointment with ample time for your skin to calm down.  Waxing does slightly irritate the skin and you don’t want to arrive at an important event with red eyebrows!

3. No Whispy Hair

Fact.  Everyone has a bad hair day once in awhile.  If you know you are having a "fly away day" and you have lots of little whispy hairs, please bring a headband.  This eliminates the risk of any of those whispy's falling into the wax we apply to your brows.

4. Pictures

Bringing a picture of what you want your brows to look like is great.  It gives us a general idea of what you are looking for.  The problem is, most times the pictures are of celebrities who have lots of makeup on and are most likely airbrushed.  We simjply ask that if you bring a picture, know that we will do our absolute best to make your brows look as similar to the photo as possible.

5. Grow Out Reality

Eyebrows tend to take a quite a long time to grow back after a bout with over tweezing or over waxing.  If you set that expectation with yourself you will be A-OK!  When trying to grow your brows thicker, know that they won't look perfectly cleaned up for a few waxes, but they will get there.  Patience is key when growing brows in.

6. Be Honest

Please, please, please disclose any dermatology meds you are using!  It is so important to let your esthetician know if you are using anything that may hinder beautiful looking brows.  We can't stress this enough; many medications will cause your skin to 'lift' if waxed, giving the appearance of a burn and that's just not a good look.

Following these simple guidelines will help us give you a fabulous brow waxing experience that leaves you with beautifully shaped eyebrows!
